I am so excited to introduce the second of two nonprofit organizations that Shelby Reef will be donating to, WildlifeVOICE. The organization's mission...
WildlifeVOICE was founded in 2014 by Jim Abernethy. Jim Abernethy is an award-winning author, photographer, cinematographer and conservationist who pioneered shark encounters without a cage. Starting at a young age, scuba diving served as an inspiration for his life’s mission as a conservationist. For decades, he has been leading photography/videography expeditions to engage with the world’s largest predatory sharks. Abernethy hosts cage-free dive expeditions with tiger, great hammerheads, oceanic white tips, bull, and lemon sharks and is best known as an extremely passionate crusader for their protection and has received numerous awards for his lifelong dedication as a marine life conservationist. Find out more about Jim here.
I have spoken to Jim multiple times by phone and have been incredibly inspired and impressed with the work he has accomplished over the years and the work he continues to do. That's where we come in. Shelby Reef will donate 10% of our profits to Wildlife VOICE which will be used for campaigns like finding solutions for Red Tide, addressing the poisoning of our waterways by the toxic chemical Glyphosate, and our favorite, working to ban the trade of shark fins in the US. Saving sharks is just the tip of the conservation iceberg. The balance of all of life lies in the ability to maintain the health of all species whether in the water or on land. We are all dependent on one another.
I look forward to supporting WildlifeVOICE in any way I can and I hope you will join me by sharing this blog, telling everyone you know how important sharks are to the health of the oceans and ultimately our health, signing up to receive our newsletters filled with important news about the impact we are having, and remember that every time you make a purchase from Shelby Reef a portion is being donated to further our mission!
Thank you and...
Be the change,
Owner, Shelby Reef
